Dedicated bird watchers live and breathe birds and no wonder. With song and dance and tireless wings birds bring us a world of simple pleasures.
A dedicated birdwatcher likely has his own bird feeders. He wouldn't dream of stepping outside without first filling his pockets with birdseed, just in case there was a wild run on the feeders since the last time he checked.
He will likely have strange organic things sprouting from his head like bits of corn, bird seed and small twigs. The life of a bird watcher is one of peace and serenity. You'll note that he doesn't even bat an eyelid when bits and pieces come tumbling down into his eyes.
Bird watchers don't just watch the birds they take pictures, lots of pictures. It might be a small point and shoot or a big camera with a telescopic lens but there will be a camera.
You may notice small tools like pliers and pieces of wire dangling from belt loops and hat brims or somewhere on a dedicated bird watcher. He keeps these little items to repair his feeders and bird houses. If you ask him about them he'll be happy to show you.
Bird watching isn't just about the sights, it's about the song and the dance too. It just brings a silly grin to the face when you witness a bird singing to his mate or performing a wild dance to attract and gain her affections. If you try it you'll quickly understand what makes bird watching such a pleasant pastime.
