Cats are very affectionate animals. It seems the more kitties I have had the more different affectionate actions I see.
Sometimes the entire body of the cat will be rubbing on a persons' legs. Some cats really give it a lot of pressure; enough to almost catch a person off guard if they are not used to the power of that feline when they rub.
Felines like to head butt. They will head butt each other and head butt the owner too. If you look at why they are head butting, you will determine why they are doing this for your attention for a specific reason. This is an affectionate action, however the cat is asking for your attention when they head butt.
The purr box on some felines is like a motor while other cats have a humming like sound when they purr. If you scratch behind the ears or under the chin of a cat, you could receive an affectionate purr.
Even though biting might be considered agressive or combative, some of the biting cats do is affectionately done. There are times when they simply nibble or just run their teeth along the skin. This can be avoided by preventing the cat from doing that action. Simply watch for when the cat opens its mouth when they are seemingly being affectionate. Remove your body part from that area. You will get to know when a cat will be biting in future activities. Violence is never to be done to any animal. Humans are smarter than animals, so using the brain they have will invent some way of handling any animal event without hitting or violence.
I call this action kneading. To explain what a cat is doing is best stated by the cat marching the front paws up and down using the claws at time and removing the claws too. This is part of the time when the cat was a kitten and was nursing on the mother cat. This action of pushing up and down helped to express the milk from the mother while the kittens were nursing. Even adult, grown cats do this kneading now when they are in an affectionate mood. Some felines also use the back feet, but that is rare.
Awesome list! I love cats.
