There are lots of ways to choose baby names; here are some popular ways. There is no need to let your friends choose as part of the baby shower games--although I suppose that is an option also!
The source for popular baby names might come as a surprise to some but it is is none other than the Social Security Administration. There are also lists available for different countries and by year.
Of course, some people are Jr. or the third...but a more common variation is to give the baby a part of someone else's name in the family. For instance, one of my grandson's and I both have the middle name "Patrick".
It used to be that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were popular...for 2011, the most common Bible name was Noah. My son's name in Joshua. Part of the good thing about these names is that the meaning of the name is pretty easy to discover.
This one amazes me a little bit...but people do name their kids after things in pop culture. Look into 2010 & 2011 and you'll find Isabella from the Twilight movies. There is already talk of Christian and Anastasia moving up the list due to the popularity of "50 Shades of Grey"
You could always pick a name you like or a name that has a special meaning. Some people even make up names--which is kind of strange by me.
We did pass down family names as middle names. I think it adds to a deeper connection to the family tree.
My Three are #2 and #3 even though the spelling is a little different for my two girls. Great helpful list for those looking for ideas.
