Introduction:

I think this is ok the way I am wording this as a mental institution oh but they seem to be calling it a psych ward now nicer maybe. I was going to put insane asylum, but I guess that does not sound too good and I don't want it to offend someone or to be incorrect. I know Britney Spears was only under observation from what I heard on TV but that is what they do. Whether it was really a breakdown or not is not for me to say I think.

Britney Spears

She was having a hard time of it and it was decided that she needed help and to put her under observation. She was supposed to have been taking her top off but who knows what was really happening. Who is really allowed to say who is mentally ill and who is not really? But you would not want them to be a danger to themselves. She was let out and seems to be recovering.

Marilyn Monroe

She was briefly put in an asylum. It must have been terrible for her knowing that her mother had been living in one. The story I read said that her husband Joe DiMaggio came to get her.

Frances Farmer

She was a star of the 30's who had very bad luck and was put in an asylum maybe with some reason or maybe not. Her book was titled "Will There Be Another Morning." There was a movie made about her life. She had starred with Cary Grant. She was in there for awhile and it was a very bad experience. She had hit a Hollywood hairdresser which I completely understand.

Zelda Fitzgerald Wife of F Scott Fitzgerald

She was a sensitive person and it seems she had to be put in a mental institution. Sometimes just everyday living is too much for some people. Others are just under too much pressure that would do many in. He wrote about her.

Mischa Barton

In looking on the Internet I found this name from the O.C. It seems to be recent. She was under observation. Privacy laws kept them from saying exactly what the trouble was. It may have been overwork like they though.




Final Thoughts

Women are sometimes picked on in this. A doctor's idea of how a woman or girl should be acting may not coincide with what is going on. My mother was in one for a time. It was probably necessary in her case. I know the problem but I was not in one. The "symptoms" on one list here are telling. -Withdrawal- one is likely to withdraw when upset.
Why did I not put Francis Farmer on top? - I don't know it's not recent. I am somehow fascinated and terrified by them. I wanted to get one on Second Life.

    I didn't recall about Judy Garland I knew she had some trouble. I worked temp for the Oz disco in SF where they had named it for Liza Minelli since she was patronizing the French rest. There are several.
