Penny candy may not actually cost a penny these days, but the old bulk candy from the past is still available. If you can't find these bulk candies in your local store, you can certainly find them online. These are some of the best.
My favorite candy is sour, and a little sweet. Sour balls, those bright yellow, individually wrapped penny candies from your childhood are a perfect blend of the sour, and sweet.
These flat disc where among my favorite. Necco wafers come in a waxed roll, with either anise flavored, or mixed varieties. I would love to nibble on these beauties instead of spending a fortune for the movie theater candy.
Yummy. These red cherry(?) flavored sticks were great. A little harder than Twistlers, with a better "chew", licorice whips can be gnawed on for a while. For a little fun, try biting off both ends of the licorice whip, and using it as a straw to sip your pop through.
I was lucky. My sister hated Mary Janes, but I loved them. Whenever we traded out Halloween candy, she would trade me all her Mary Janes for a peanut butter cup, or two. Good deal. These chewy peanut butter candy last a long time.
Sugar Daddys were a much loved bulk candy for me. I loved that I could suck on these sweet treats for a long time. While they might have added a few trips to the dentist, they were, and are delicious.
great list and I remember all of these...I like the black licorice too and i fact, Good & Plenty is a favorite even today. H5
Thanks for the list of candy. H5
Do you remember the koolaid filled wax candies? Great list! H5!
Oh yeah. Button candy is great. More for the unique way of eating, than for the taste, of course.
