We have all been told to drink enough water daily, to stay healthy. Some people hate water and see no need for drinking it, but don't consider the fact that our bodies are comprised of 80 per cent water, the brain alone is 85 percent water, blood 80 percent and lean muscle 75 per cent. If you value your overall health, this may change your view of the importance of drinking enough water.
Our whole body is made up of hundreds of living cells which are made up of a watery substance called, cytoplasm. The cytoplasm consists of different components such as molecules, fatty acids, proteins, ions, dissolved nutrients and waste. The cell gets all of it's energy from the plasma membrane which is composed of fatty acids. The fatty acids cannot form properly without water to house the cell. The whole cellular function in our bodies, depends completely on water for survival. You can live without food for a long time, but only three days without water.
Water is our life source and without it the body begins to malfunction. Without enough, certain aliments appear and eventually they can kill us. Lack of enough water daily can cause headaches, fatigue, joint pain, short-term memory loss and a host of diseases. The body will also burn more fat with enough water because the cells have enough oxygen from the bloodstream to operate properly. Weight loss is much more difficult without adequate water intake.
Flush toxins out of your body with the right amounts of daily water intake. The digestive tract has many toxins that need to be flushed out of it daily to keep the rest of the body healthy. A lack of water actually causes the body to increase fat deposits which causes weight gain.
Up to 37 per cent of Americans are thirsty and don't even know it. They mistake their body cell's cry for water as hunger and eat, instead. We don't need to feel thirsty to drink enough water, if that happens, you are not getting enough water. A study was done at the University of Washington for a group of dieters. Almost 100 per cent of them shut down their midnight hunger pangs with a glass of water.
Soft drinks actually leach water from the body and cause great harm to the cells and mineral content in your body. You would have to drink 8 to 12 glasses of water to make up for the one bottle of soda's diuretic effect. Any sugary drink, including Gatorade or artificially sweetened drinks, are very harmful to your health. Body builders agree that water is the optimum drink for good health and a higher ph level. Sickly people always have a lower ph than healthy people.
The optimum water to drink for each person is half of your body weight in ounces of water every day. Triple that amount for even better results.
i always tell myself to drink water during the day but i can never make it to 8 glasses. definitely something i need to work on!
