Introduction:

There are so many car accidents and fatalities that can be prevented if certain safe driving tips are done. Be sure to follow these 5 safe driving tips to help keep you and all of our passengers safe.

Stay Off the Phone

Be sure to stay off the phone while you are driving. Do not talk on the phone if you are behind the wheel driving. Talking on the phone if a distraction and you could cause an accident. When people talk on the phone, they are usually concentrating on their phone conversation instead of the road and the other cars. Do not text while you are driving. It is hard to pay attention to the other cars around you if you are typing a message in your phone. Wait to text when you are home or wherever you are driving to. Don't check you email's or search the web on your phone when you are driving. There are laws in most states that prohibit drivers from texting or talking on the phone. Help keep yourself, your passengers and others that are on the road safe by staying off the phone.

Obey the Speed Limit Signs and Other Posted Road Signs

Obey the posted speed limit signs. They are there for a reason. Speeding is illegal and dangerous to both you and others that are on the road. Avoid speeding and stick to the legal speed limit. You could prevent a car accident from happening by just slowing down.

Keep an eye on the other road signs that are posted too. They are there to keep us safe. In some states it is illegal to make a u-turn at intersections with stop lights. Be sure to keep an eye out for no u-turns as well as other road signs. Obeying the road signs will keep everyone on the road safer.

Be Alert

Always be alert when you are driving. Know where other cars are at all times. Be sure to have your eyes on the road and check your mirrors often. Be ready slow down or stop at a split second if need be. Be a defensive driver. It could safe a life or prevent an accident from happening.

Never Drink and Drive

This one is a biggie. Never get behind the wheel and drive if you have been drinking. Everyone knows that this causes accidents and fatalities but people still insist on drinking and driving. If you are going to be out, be sure to have someone that is going to refrain from drinking so that they can drive home or call someone to pick you up. Most cities have taxis that you can call if no one in your party is able to drive home because of drinking. Be sure that you or someone else is able to drive sober before getting behind the wheel.

Wear Safety Belts

It is a proven fact that seat belts save lives. Most states have a law that require all drivers and passengers to buckle while riding in a car. Make sure that you and all of the passengers are buckled up correctly and safely before taking off. Putting on your seat belt can save your life or a loved one, so buckle up.
