Mia Love is running for Congress in the state of Utah. She is a warm, talented and a wonderful person.
Mia Love is currently the mayor of Saratoga Spings, Utah. She started out by serving on the City Council in that city for six years.
She is the first Haitian-American to hold an elected office in Utah County in the state of Utah and the first black mayor in that state.
Under her leadership, there have been many improvements to the city of Saratoga Springs. She has lead the city during devastating fires that threatened homes, to flooding and mudslides. Under her leadership, the city's shortfall was reduced from $3.5 million to $779,000. The city now has the highest possible bond rating for its size.
Mia Love won the Republican nomination for Congress in the 4th Congressional District in the state of Utah in April, 2012, with 70 percent of the vote. She is running against representative Jim Matheson who has served in Congress for six terms. He is a favorite son in Utah, so her work is cut out for her. If she wins, she will be the first African American Republican congresswoman.
Mia love is pro-life and the mother of three children. Mia is in favor of personal responsibility, limited government and fiscal discipline. She always asks herself three questions when she is confronted with an issue, "Is it affordable? Is it sustainable? Is it my job?" She gave an inspiring speech at the Republican National Convention. Mia Love said that Obama is, "pitting us against each other based on our income level, gender and social status."
Mia Love was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1975 to parents who immigrated from Haiti with just $10 to their name when they arrived. She was raised in Connecticut. Her parents worked hard so that she could attend and graduate from the University of Hartford with a degree in Fine Arts. Mia Love became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints and married Jason Love in 1997.
Mia Love has been the subject of unfair ridicule from the left. If elected, she would join the Congressional Black Caucus and would be the only conservative black woman member. She believes that the group ignites racism and fear in others when there is none.
On a personal level, Mia Love is my daughter's friend. They sing together once in a while in Saratoga Springs, Utah. She is a talented and capable person. The state of Utah would be lucky to have her as a representative.
