Holiday cards are readily available for the likes of St. Patrick's Day. But cards probably don't exist for any of these silly holidays. Here are five crazy holidays guaranteed to blow you away in the March winds. Hold onto your hat!
Oink! Oink! Do you have a pet porker? Show him off with pride today. Pigs are intelligent, endearing and -- begging your pardon -- they love to hog the limelight. Put your pot-bellied pal in a pet harness and take him for a stroll. Just don't lapse into the childhood verse "this little piggie went to market..."
Can you imagine your pet porker with opposable thumbs? More likely your animal pal is a furball such as a cat or dog. New meaning would be given to the expression cat fight. "In this corner, weighing in at sixteen pounds, is one tiger of a cat, Fluffy. In the opposite corner, challenger Felix is adjusting his tuxedo..." You get the picture.
Uh, isn't this every day of the year for many?! If not, give your hard-working self a break today. Sleep in. Watch something mindless on TV -- "The View" constitutes mindlessness for some... Or better yet, nothing says National Goof Off Day like thumb wrestling does. In reality your pooch does not sport thumbs -- you'll have to find a human being for this activity.
Spring has finally sprung, so it's time to go a little nutty. It's Pecan Day! Did you know that the pecan is the only nut tree that is native to North America? Pre-heat your oven and make a pecan pie. You can use a little activity after goofing off so much three days earlier.
End your month with a bang! Well, not literally. Surely you remember those bunsen burners from chemistry class. The inventor of the bunsen burner, German chemist Robert Wilhelm Eberhard von Bunsen, was born on this date in 1811. Spend your day contemplating the marvels of the bunsen burner; you can use it to warm up a slice of left-over pecan pie. Just don't be a pig about it. Oink!
"Beware the Ides of March, Caesar." If you are not familiar with this quote, take some time after goofing off on March 22 and read Shakespeare's historical play "Julius Caesar." March 15, AKA the Ides of March, marks the date in 44 B.C. in which Julius Caesar was assassinated. "Et tu, Brute?"

These are great obscure March holidays. I missed National Pig Day. Sad oink.
How funny!! These are great.
I love Pecan Day. Butter Pecan is my favorite flavor ice cream. Does that mean that I can eat all the butter pecan ice cream I want on March 25th?
Love this list! I'm sorry to have missed some of these special days, but glad to know I can gleefully celebrate goof off day!
Pig Day was also the International Day of the Cat. Big day for fans of both pigs and cats!
I like March because of it's unpredictability. It's such a unique Month with unique and some unheard of holidays/celebrations. Thanks for sharing.
